The Iconic Prince Dies at 57
Prince, the singer, songwriter, musician and overall champion of popular culture for multiple decades, has died at the age of 57. He was reportedly found unresponsive in his elevator.
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” said his publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, according to CNN.
Known to be an impeccable performer, Prince rocked stages across the globe up until the end. Just earlier this month, a concert was postponed in Atlanta due to illness. While details surrounding his death haven’t been revealed yet, many suspect that his recent battle with the flu played a role.
Prince was an icon. His flamboyant fashion sense, cryptic lyrics and unforgettable performances went on to influence on the lives of millions. Many of which include celebrities that have provided their condolences through social media.

While the entire world was full of fans, the Midwest in particular felt a sense of ownership and pride for the native Minnesotan. And Prince felt the same, having his permanent residence be based in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
According to CNN, Prince was in the process of writing a memoir entitled “The Beautiful Ones.” Hopefully, in the future, fans will get to know the singer on an even deeper, intimate level by reading his own words.
For the rest of the day, or however long is needed, many will celebrate the life of one of music’s brightest stars and reliving memories. If you’re looking for help, MTV has reportedly cancelled their scheduled programming for the day to show Prince music videos.
